Sr. Site Inspector

About the role

The Senior Site Inspector will oversee construction activities for the FSM SRRIP2 project, ensuring that all works are carried out safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with contract specifications, quality standards and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Senior Resident Engineer and the Project Director, the role acts as the primary liaison between SMEC, the client, contractors and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor site works to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, codes and contract requirements.
• Review and approve method statements, shop drawings and material submittals before execution.
• Maintain accurate daily inspection diaries, test results and inspection logs.
• Report progress, delays, non‑conformances and deviations to the Resident Engineer/Project Manager.
• Oversee site safety practices and ensure contractors follow health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants and client representatives to facilitate smooth site operations.
• Assist in resolving technical and site‑related issues to avoid rework or delays.
• Witness testing and commissioning activities and certify completed works.
• Provide guidance to Contract Administrators and ensure corrective actions for defects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in construction site inspection and supervision.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, codes and contract administration.
• Ability to produce accurate daily reports, inspection logs and progress documentation.
• Excellent communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards on site.
