Project Associate – Community Resilience

About the role

The Project Associate will support the implementation of the “Safer Schools, Stronger Shelters” project in the Federated States of Micronesia, focusing on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction within the education sector and community preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day project activities, maintain work plans and schedules, and follow up on action points.
• Organise workshops, trainings, consultations and community meetings, handling logistics, materials and participant registration.
• Facilitate stakeholder communication with DECEM, DOE, State Disaster Coordination Offices, schools and community partners.
• Support curriculum review, teacher training, development of learning materials and monitoring of pilot DRR/CCA education activities.
• Collect, compile and maintain programme data, attendance records and assessment results for monitoring and donor reporting.
• Conduct field monitoring visits, gather beneficiary feedback and contribute to progress reports.
• Provide administrative support such as procurement requests, travel arrangements, payment processing and filing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least three years of relevant experience, or high school diploma with five years of experience.
• Experience supporting project implementation, community development or humanitarian programmes.
• Proven ability to organise workshops, trainings and community consultations.
• Experience working with government departments, NGOs or international organisations.
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Ability to maintain accurate records, prepare reports and manage databases.
• Fluency in English (oral and written); knowledge of local FSM languages is an advantage.
