Conservation and Fisheries Coordinator

About the role

The Conservation and Fisheries Coordinator supports conservation and fisheries activities across Kosrae, providing administrative, research, project management, and technical assistance to program staff, communities, and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage conservation and fisheries data, conduct biological sampling of coastal species, and lead stock assessments.
• Support anchored Fish Aggregating Device (aFAD) programs and engage communities in fisheries projects and management plans.
• Organize meetings, develop outreach and training materials, and supervise interns, volunteers, and contractors.
• Assist with program budgeting, monitoring, and fundraising to sustain long‑term initiatives.

Required profile

• BA/BS in biology, ecology, fisheries management, natural resources or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in conservation, fisheries management, or data collection, preferably in Kosrae or other Pacific Islands.
• Fluency in English and Kosraean; multilingual abilities are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Required skills

• Biological sampling and species identification.
• Data entry and management using common software applications (Word, Excel, web browsers).
• Project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
