Field Engineer Consultant – READY Project

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is recruiting two Field Engineer Consultants to support the READY project in the Federated States of Micronesia. The role involves planning, designing, and overseeing upgrades to emergency evacuation centers and containerized warehouses to improve disaster‑resilient infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical and feasibility assessments of buildings and infrastructure to prioritize upgrades.
• Prepare engineering designs, drawings, bills of quantities, specifications, cost estimates and implementation schedules.
• Provide on‑site technical guidance, quality assurance, and safety orientations to contractors and community working groups.
• Monitor contractor performance, verify compliance with standards, and report risks or delays.
• Coordinate procurement documentation, technical evaluations and logistics for material delivery.
• Produce regular technical, progress and completion reports and maintain comprehensive project records.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in civil engineering, architecture or related field with at least two years of experience, or a university degree with four years of experience.
• Licensed professional engineer certification.
• Experience in construction engineering, contract management and working in remote or hardship locations.
• Excellent English language skills; knowledge of local languages is a plus.

Required skills

• AutoCAD for engineering drawings and design.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel).
