Electrical Field Engineer – Reconstruction Projects

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is looking for an experienced Electrical Field Engineer to support the reconstruction of homes, public buildings and infrastructure in Chuuk after Typhoon Sinlaku. Working under the Program Engineer and Construction Officer, you will lead the electrical component of the READY project funded by the United States Government.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and supervise electrical works for new houses, public buildings and infrastructure.
• Maintain and manage field equipment such as generators, RO units, pumps and power tools across remote island sites.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, electrical drawings, cost estimates and bills of quantities.
• Conduct installation, inspection, testing, operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
• Ensure quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and oversee contractor performance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical, Electromechanical or Power Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience.
• Professional engineering certification or electrical license is an advantage.
• Experience on donor‑funded, humanitarian or disaster‑recovery projects, especially in remote or island environments.
• Training in occupational health and safety, electrical safety or project management is desirable.

Required skills

• Electrical system installation, testing and maintenance.
• Preparation of technical specifications, electrical drawings and BOQs.
• Construction supervision, QA/QC and contractor management.
• Knowledge of generators, solar power systems, water pumping and power distribution.
• Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD.
