Field Engineer – Reconstruction Projects

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is recruiting fourteen Field Engineer consultants to support the reconstruction response to Typhoon Sinlaku in Chuuk. Working under the Program Engineer, Construction Officer and Head of Sub‑Office, you will help deliver new housing, infrastructure and public‑building projects across Chuuk Lagoon and the outer islands.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of reconstruction interventions for new houses, Weno infrastructure and public buildings.
• Ensure all activities comply with approved technical standards, project specifications and implementation plans.
• Provide regular monitoring, technical guidance and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with the Program Engineer, Construction Officer and Head of Sub‑Office to align field activities.
• Travel to project sites, including remote islands, using short‑ and long‑distance boat transport.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field with at least 2 years experience, or a university degree with at least 4 years experience.
• Licensed professional Engineer – mandatory.
• Licensed professional Quality Control/Quality Assurance Engineer – required.
• Experience in construction engineering, contract management and civil design project planning.
• Proven ability to work in remote, hardship or rustic locations for extended periods.
• Experience with NGOs or international organizations is an advantage.
