Senior Site Inspector

About the role

The Senior Site Inspector will ensure that all construction activities are performed safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements for the FSM SRRIP2 project. Reporting to the Senior Resident Engineer and the Project Director, the role requires strong supervision, client liaison, and meticulous record‑keeping.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain SMEC’s compliance with supervision and contract administration obligations as defined in the TOR.
• Foster positive relationships with the client, contractors, and other stakeholders, handling enquiries and complaints professionally.
• Inspect construction works, test materials, and verify workmanship against drawings, specifications, codes, and contract requirements.
• Oversee site safety practices and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Review method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals for compliance before execution.
• Maintain accurate daily site records, test results, and inspection logs.
• Report progress, delays, non‑conformances, or deviations to the Resident Engineer/Project Manager.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and client representatives to ensure smooth site operations.
• Assist in resolving technical and site‑related issues to avoid rework or delays.
• Witness testing and commissioning, certify completed works, and ensure corrective actions for any defects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in construction supervision, preferably in civil engineering projects.
• Ability to maintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate inspection reports.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to construction sites.
• Willingness to follow SMEC’s Code of Conduct and Business Integrity Policy.
